Washing instructions
- Dry pail
  • Take diaper off baby and place in diaper pail. Make sure to rinse off any soil
  • When pail is full, place diapers in washer. Wash diapers using hot water and ¼ cup of detergent (generally ½ the recommended amount). Never use fabric softener
  • Diapers can either go in the dryer or be hung to dry
Always read manufactures washing instructions for special care.

Tips
  • To make clean up a breeze you may elect to use diaper liners. You can choose between bio-degradable flushable liners or cloth liners. These are especially handy when your baby starts solid foods
  • Detergent should not contain optical brighteners, perfumes or enzymes as this may affect the life of your diaper and your baby’s skin may be sensitive to them
  • If your covers, all-in-ones or pockets have Velcro you should always secure the Velcro closures to prevent wicking
  • In most cases you do not need to pre-soak your diapers. A nursing mother should find most stains will easily come out of diapers simply using the instructions above
If stains need a little help coming out
  • Stubborn stains will often come right out just by leaving the diaper to dry in direct sunlight
  • You may also consider adding a little non-chlorine bleach alternative to the wash. This will both help whiten the diapers but also disinfect
  • If you find your diapers holding an unpleasant smell you may strip them. This will also help lift stubborn stains. When stripping diapers always refer to the manufactures instructions
  • If you have hard water you may want to use a ½ cup of Calgon in the wash to help avoid detergent build-up
  • Should your diapers start to get a little stinky post-wash you could consider using a few drops of tea tree oil when washing. This also acts as a natural anti-bacterial and anti-fungal agent. Always use caution with natural oils as some babies will be sensitive to them and if used too heavily can cause burns/irritation
  • Using white vinegar in place of fabric softener will also help unpleasant smells
